Busch Gardens Christmas Town

Last night me and hubby made our very first gingerbread house EVER! It was really frustrating and difficult at first because we are both perfectionists and the icing was giving us a hard time haha. After we came up with our own technique, we were able to finish it in no time :)

Today we went to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA for the first time. I was really excited because I love anything that has to do with Christmas. The whole park was decorated with every color light and they also had some animals and shows.

I had a really good time! It was SOOOOO cold. We were there for about four hours but it was worth it.

Jewel Tone Holiday Makeup Tutorial

I think most people think that Christmas/holiday makeup is green eyes and red lips. I like the idea of green eyes but I decided to give my look a twist by adding gold and hot pink lips. This made it have more of a modern feel to it. Here is the look:

Holiday Hairstyle for Short Hair

Ello! So up until this summer, my hair was always long. I decided to cut it to get rid of a bad dye job and for a change. Then I randomly wanted to get it cut even shorter into a pixie cut. I liked it at first but then I really missed my long hair. I've been trying to grow it out ever since!

This is what my hair looked like before I cut it- really dry and damaged!

This is after the first cut.

And this is after the second!

I know how hard it is to style your hair differently when it's so short. The holidays are full of family gatherings that girls want to dress up for- especially styling their hair! Here is a look I came up with:

What's On My Christmas List?

Every year my family and I make Christmas lists of the things we want. This gives all of us an overall idea of what kind of gifts everyone wants. I think this method is better because I wouldn't want anyone wasting their money and time buying me a gift that I don't particularly like! There is still that *surprise* because you don't know who you are getting your gifts from until you open it. Here are the items I put on my list this year:

Dr. Martens Women's 1460 8 Eye Boots in Pewter - found here

Although these are kind of expensive, Doc Martens are known to last YEARS. I want them in this metallic color because I think they would match my wardrobe and I like to be different :)

Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania Palette- found here

Next on my list is this palette from Coastal Scents. This is one of their newer ones that they've finished in metallic. I don't have very many eyeshadows like this and I figured this would be perfect because it has pretty much every color you could want. I already have the 78 Eyeshadow and Blush Combo Palette from Coastal Scents that I use almost every day so I know that it is good quality and has good color pay off.

Gossip Girl DVDs 1-3 found on Amazon.com

I don't watch a lot of tv so I didn't even know that they made this into a show until way into the second season. I read all of the GG books and thought they were really good so I watched the first season (borrowed it from a friend- thanks Amber!) and fell in love haha. I can't wait to finish watching it. I haven't watched any of the fourth season that's on tv right now because I want to wait until I see the other ones.

Long sleeve vnecks- found pretty much everywhere
I also want long sleeve vneck shirts! I asked for plain ones because I don't like wearing things that have company names on it or heavy embellishment everywhere. These are great for layering during the winter!

Gift cards- found everywhere

I put these two gift cards on my list as well. I love doing arts and crafts so I chose Michael's. I also like music and don't believe in illegal downloading so I chose iTunes!

Maybe this gave you an idea of what you might put on your list? Or maybe gave you an idea of what to get someone else. Either way, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! <3333

Small Sephora/F21 Haul

Hola amigas! On "Cyber Monday" I took advantage of the good deals that were going on. I purchased a Christmas gift (not going to say what it is because someone might see it ;) ) from Sephora and was able to get my birthday gift and three free samples.

I chose two Sephora eyeshadow samples and a sample of Murad Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer.

The Sephora birthday gift included a frosty white eyeshadow, dark green/gray/blue eyeliner, and mascara.

I tried out the mascara and I found that the formula is a bit dry. It didn't clump together but it didn't volumize my lashes. In my opinion it wasn't all that great.

I also purchased some things from Forever 21. I got these silver hoops with rhinestones all along the edge of them. They are pretty light and really big!

I saw these tights one day in the store but they were damaged and the only ones around so I got them online. At a certain angle, you can see this rainbow metallic effect that looks soooooooo cool lol.

Christmas Nails

A couple posts back I said I was going to do a nail tutorial on a look that had a glitter gradient effect. I thought it would look nice using Christmas colors so I came up with this:

I used fake nails because I find that this looks better on longer nails because it compliments the gradient effect better. Wearing fake nails also makes it easier to remove the glitter because it is a pain in the butt to get off your nails with nail polish remover.

The red polish is OPI's Crimson Carol which came from their holiday collection last year. It is a ruby red with small gold and red specks. The gold glitter polish is China Glaze's Medallion which is one of my all time favorite nail polishes. The glitter is a mix of small and big gold glitter. The green glitter polish is China Glaze's Party Hearty that is from their holiday collection this year. It is SO pretty! It is a mix off green, red, and silver glitter.

I hope you guys try this look out! It is super easy and is really pretty when the light hits your nails. I got a lot of compliments last night at work! Lol.

My Makeup Story

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! My grandparents came to visit from PA for my birthday and Thanksgiving. We went to a buffet and saw the movie Unstoppable. I am so thankful that I have a loving family. I miss them very much!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a tag going around on YouTube called "My Makeup Story" and I thought it would be good for a blog post :)

1. How old where you when you first started wearing makeup?
I started wearing very minimal makeup during seventh grade so I was around 13 years old. I wore Maybelline's Great Lash mascara, black eyeliner, and clear lipgloss every now and then.

2. How did you get into makeup?

I think I got into makeup because it was "in" to wear heavy eyeliner and mascara at the time- I remember almost everyone in middle school had a skater/punk look haha. I started reading Seventeen magazine around that time so seeing makeup looks in the magazine sparked my interest to start wearing it. During high school I started wearing eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner. I almost always had winged liquid eyeliner on- I thought it made my eyes look bigger. I liked wearing really bright eyeshadows- mostly green and purple. It wasn't until my senior year that I really got into makeup. The day of my boyfriend's prom, me, my aunt, her bes friend, my best friend, and her mom all went to the mall to get our makeup done. I got my makeup done at the Clinique counter and they had a deal going on that if you bought two of their products, then the makeup was free. The makeup artist used foundation, bronzer, minimal neutral eyeshadows, pencil eyeliner, and mascara. I ended up buying the foundation and bronzer that she used. I started watching YouTube makeup videos the summer after prom and started experimenting with different looks and products and the more I practiced, the more I loved it!

3. What are some of your favorite brands?

As far as drugstore brands, I really like Maybelline, Revlon, and Covergirl. I like Maybelline's mascaras, Revlon's eyeliners, and Covergirl's lipsticks the best. As far as higher end brands, I like MAC and Nars.

4. What does makeup mean to you?

Makeup is a form of art to me. I've always been really into art- painting, drawing, sketching. I think it is amazing how you can transform someone's look with makeup like how you can transform a blank canvas into a beautiful piece of art. It allows people to feel more confident and is fun to do.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

Foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and lip balm.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

I like how one day you can have one look and then the next day you can have a completely different look but people can still tell it is you. I hope that makes sense lol.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?

I think drugstore makeup can be just as good as high end makeup. Most of my makeup collection is drugstore. If you can get the same quality in a drugstore product than you can in a high end product for half the price than I say get the drugstore product. I don't like how people assume that high end products are better just because of their name.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?

WATCH MAKEUP GURUS ON YOUTUBE! There are a lot of professional makeup artists who have channels on YouTube that you can learn from. They talk about techniques, products, and other helpful things about makeup. It helps you save money because you learn what products are good and what products are bad. Also, they can give you inspiration from their tutorials! I think I've learned the most from kandeejohnson, EnKoreMakeup, lisaeldridgedotcom, pixiwoo, and petrilude.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

            Lips that are too nude.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?

I think it is very helpful to girls and guys all over the world. It has made makeup just as inspirational as fashion and art. It's sad that there are people who leave nasty comments on videos and there are gurus who have become more interested in making money than helping/sharing with people who love makeup like myself!
