Happy Halloween!

Last night we carved pumpkins for TWO hours! I haven't carved a pumpkin in years.  By the time we were finished my hands felt like they were going to fall off!  It was well worth it, though.

After watching some Halloween tutorials from petrilude on YouTube, I definitely wanted to be a zombie this year! I was really proud of myself because I have never done anything like this before. It was surprisingly really scary to look in the mirror haha. We scared a LOT of kids when we were passing out candy. Some kids even skipped our house when they saw us standing outside. Ooops!

Btw, we didn't notice Jesus chillin in the background until after the picture was taken.

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween :)!

Pickin Pumpkins With My Punkin

Yesterday we went to a local family market called Dean & Don's.  Every day I drive home from school I  pass this place and I've always wanted to go!  They sell tons of fruits, veggies, and flowers for your garden.  Since it's fall they had a HUGE selection of pumpkins- all different colors, sizes, and styles.

Halloween: Gypsy/Fortune Teller/Disney Esmeralda Look

There are a lot of Halloween looks out there that girls can be but it always seems like they want it to be "sexy" (sexy cat, sexy vampire, sexy whatever haha). When I went to the mall yesterday with a friend and went into Spencer's and saw that they had a lot of Halloween costumes hanging up but they were all "sexified" and I don't know about you, but I can't stand when girls dress up well, slutty. Just because it is Halloween doesn't mean you are automatically allowed to wear a costume that looks small enough to be lingerie! You can still be "sexy" with normal clothes!

I think gypsies are known for being beautiful and mysterious in a "sexy" kind of way. Here is the look that I came up with:

Dark eyes and lips are a must for this look so I used purples and golds. I used glitter because I think it makes it more Halloween appropriate. For accessories, I tied a metallic scarf around my head and tied it loosely to the side where my wig is. I wore big gold hoop earrings and wore all the gold rings I have.

I don't have anything in my closet for the costume but I have some tips! Think Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.

A white off the shoulder ruffled top paired with a long prairie skirt with sequins and other embellishments would look perfect. I don't think you want to be barefoot walking around on Halloween haha so long black leather boots would go nicely with this look.

"Since you've gone I've lost that chip on my shoulder..."

ENDING A FRIENDSHIP

While I was getting ready for school early this morning, I was listening to my ipod and Lily Allen's song "I Could Say" came on. As I was singing along, I realized that it reminded me a lot about a friendship that has recently ended in my life.

Here are the lyrics:

I could say that I'll always be here for you
But that would be a lie and quite a pointless thing to do
I could say that I'll always have feelings for you
But I've got a life ahead of me and I'm only 22

Since you've gone I've lost that chip on my shoulder
Since you've gone I feel like I've gotten older
Now you're gone it's as if the whole wide world is my stage
Now you're gone it's like I've been let out of my cage

You always made it clear that you hated my friends
You made me feel so guilty when I was running round with them
And everything was always about being cool
And now I've come to realize there's nothing cool about you at all

Since you've gone I've lost that chip on my shoulder
Since you've gone I feel like I've gotten older
Now you're gone it's as if the whole wide world is my stage
Now you're gone it's like I've been let out of my cage

Since you've gone I've lost that chip on my shoulder
Since you've gone I feel like I've gotten older
Now you're gone it's as if the whole wide world is my stage
Now you're gone it's like I've been let out of my cage

Are you part of a friendship that literally drains you? Are you hanging onto the friendship just for the benefit of the other person? Feel trapped? From my whole experience, I'd like to share some advice.

1)  What's the problem?
Sit back and really think about why you two aren't seeing eye to eye. Arguing with each other constantly is NOT normal. Sure, it's normal to get into fights every now and then but it's a problem when it becomes frequent. Maybe the other person is going through personal problems that you're not aware of. Maybe the other person is overly stressed and you always seem to get on their last nerve. Or maybe that person has just changed. Take the time to sit down with this person and express your feelings with them in a calm and orderly manner. Arguing back with them isn't going to solve anything.

2)  Sticks & Stones
Is this person calling you hurtful names? Are they saying things to you that they claim were only because "they were mad" or "they didn't mean it"? NO friend should ever call you bad names EVER. It is not something you should tolerate, let alone forgive. You are not a human punching bag. Don't allow them to walk all over you.

3)  Me, Myself, & I
You need to think for yourself. If this person is emotionally abusing you, taking your friendship for granted, and putting no effort into fixing the friendship, you need to let them go. DON'T hold onto a friendship if you are gaining nothing from it. You want friends who care about you in every way, who lift your spirits when you are upset, who are there for you when you need them, who you can be yourself with, and who love you with all of their heart.

I went to Ulta today originally looking for more of NYX's jumbo pencils but saw this instead. They have a few palettes with ten eyeshadows called The Runway Collection and I decided to get "Jazz Night".

This palette reminds me so much of Kat Von D's Beethoven palette.  These cool tone colors are great for  dark eyes and for fall/winter! I've never owned any NYX eyeshadows before so I was quite impressed by their pigmentation (my swatches are about three layers).  All of the shadows have a velvety smooth texture and are not powdery at all. A few of them are shimmery and a few are matte. I think I will be purchasing more NYX eyeshadows in the future because they are really cheap (bought this palette for $7 with a coupon) and good quality.

XOXO!
